It’s bullshit. And it’s going to end up hurting the common people of Britain a lot more than it helps anyone, except maybe the big corporate assholes who really don’t need any help. In fact, the common Brits are hurting already, and several of them happen to be friends of mine, so that’s how I know this. People are getting kicked off disability, and Brexit hasn’t stopped it; it’s actually accelerating. Ever look at the politicians who supported it the most? They stand to profit from it, as do their cronies. If that’s “solidarity”, fuck it. The British fascists are Brexit’s most ardent supporters, and that alone should be a deterrent. One doesn’t get to socialism by way of fascism…didn’t World War II teach you anything?

As for Syria, the reason I don’t comment on it is because frankly, it’s hard to tell what’s true and what’s not. I’m not qualified to judge the situation there. I don’t know Arabic, so I’m at a disadvantage. It’s better not to comment on things one knows nothing about.

You may just want to bear that in mind generally, given what your last several comments here have been like.

Comment on Wankers of the Week: Cursin’ of the Year by Slave Revolt https://www.google.com//a31/2016/12/wankers-of-the-week-cursin-of-the-year.html#comment-22039 Mon, 12 Dec 2016 18:49:53 +0000 /a31/?p=17585#comment-22039 Your attitude toward the people that supported Brexit typifies why the so called left in the US and Europe are losing. There are compelling arguments to support the Brexit.

The EU are pro-Nato imperialism and global corporatist. Working people are harmed by the EU policies and mass immigration that drives down wages and makes it harder to find work. Implying that pro-Brexit people are simply racist hill-billies is the tone that is being rejected in the US and the world.

Lastly, you don’t seem to have much to say about the US and Saudi destruction of Syria. This has been the most monumental propaganda campaigns in our times. Even Democracy Now is promulgating disinformation.

Really, it is your lack of solidarity for ordinary people (that is currently exemplified across the pro-imperialist, left-progressive sectors in the West) that has brought us to this current juncture.

Since I have many allies in Ukraine, Syria, Iran, and other countries that are the target of liberal-imperialism, I am very enthused that Trump beat Clinton. Her losing is most welcomed among people struggling for a multi-polar global order.

You seem determined to confirm your own narrative, to not care to expand your perspective on the state of the world.

As I said, if Chavez were alive, she would have actively opposed Clinton as being a mass murderer and the most dangerous choice for world peace in this election cycle.

The left has been reduced to supporting a documented mass murderer and imperialist at this historical moment. That is why Trump won.

That you ignore this issue is indicative of a larger trend in the West that is quite disappointing.

I have seen this tendency on the so-called progressive left.

And what if the people in Eastern Ukraine? Clinton supports a neofacistic junta that has been bombing the people of Donbas.

Then there is the issue of Honduras, – place where I have travelled and have many friends suffering under Clinton’s preferred post-coup government of the oligarchs.

As odious as Trump is, it is Clinton that has participated in murder of people struggling to defend against US imperialism.

I am not voting for Trump–but I find the support for Clinton on the part of the left very odious and hypocritical.

Chavez would be supporting Trump, too.

The issues we face transcend the politics of good-bad demonization of a particular person.

Comment on Quotable: Lawrence O’Donnell on the crackdown against indigenous protests by Tara A. What will our government do about it if the only news program is The Last Word? Amidst all of the political nonsense, Mr. O’Donnell has been the only MSNBC (or any, to my knowledge) to report the little girl, Alice Brown Otter, having walked from Standing Rock to Washington DC for Water Is Life and to ask that her tribal rights be recognized and given. The Keystone Pipeline is plundering its indifferent way through these lands and it would be a crime against humanity to add this intrusion to the hundreds of crimes against the People of Standing Rock since “manifest destiny” began with the conquest of the Great Plains. Respect for people and an alternate route (since the pipeline is unfortunately now a reality in progress) should be the proper course. I hope this little girl’s arduous trip is rewarded by changing the route of the pipeline. If it is not, then, SHAME SHAME on them.

Now why did it take so long for me to spot this comment? Looks like my blogware is funked. (WordPress, someone needs to have a word with you…)

Yeah, I don’t blame you for not voting. As shitty as our politicians can and do get up here, they have nothing on those to the south of us. So far, I’ve always voted, but I won’t deny I’ve held my nose several times.
